Everything I learned about couponing I learned online. Just by visiting blogs, I was able to learn everything I needed to know to go out and get these crazy savings for myself. After I learned how to coupon, I needed a source of great info to provide my weekly matchups. Very quickly, just by using the sites, I found my favorites.
One thing to keep in mind, is blog authors tend to focus on the deals found at the stores in their general area. So if you are from an area of the country that is not “down south”, you may find one, or even none of these blogs list your stores. The great thing is, even if your stores aren’t listed on any of these blogs, you can be sure to find links on these sites to help you find what you’re looking for. Blogs that focus on the drugstores are great because your state doesn’t matter! This is a work in progress, so check back often for my newest favorites.
My #1 favorite site?
Saving Well Spending Less There is no comparison when you are looking for the best deals, earlier in the week than any other site I’ve ever found. Ruth is the mom that runs this site, and I quickly became a huge fan of her after watching her YouTube videos where she shoots video while she shops, sometimes with her kids, which I often have to do. As I mentioned, this site has previews of all the matchups around 5 days before the flyers are even released! Don’t ask me how she does it, but this has been the #1 reason this site is my favorite. I am able to get my preliminary shopping list done at the beginning of the week, then use the rest of the week to clip coupons or order them online if I need to, with plenty of time to get them in the mail before the sale even starts! She also has a fantastic beginners, step by step guide to start couponing that you should check out if you’re starting out, or even if you need a refresher. One of the biggest things that I really love about Ruth is that she finds the time to answer just about every comment and email she receives. Pretty impressive. So, for those reasons, Ruth at Saving Well Spending Less gets my vote for #1 couponing blog. Oh! She also has a sister site, Living Well Spending Less, that’s worth checking out too!
Since I’m on my way to becoming a graphic artist, I have to comment on her blog design…it’s really one of the cutest blogs out there.
My #1 Favorite Couponing Forum
We Use Coupons The great thing about turning to a forum for match up info is forums are fueled by users. Blogs count on one or several people to post the most up to date info, but a forum has up to the minute updates on all the best deals. This one is run by Nathan, Mr Coupon himself, seen on TLC’s Extreme Couponing. The only negative about using the forums is, it’s really easy to become a slave to the latest information. It’s easy to feel like you have to keep checking the site so you don’t miss anything.
Blogs that helped me get started with hard core couponing:
Common Sense With Money This site is run by a former accountant named Mercedes who is now a stay at home mom and is, in my opinion, the provider of the most up to date info on printable coupons and facebook deals, most of which run out within hours. I have signed up for her daily email and it is something I look forward to getting in my inbox every single day.
The Krazy Coupon Lady This is the first couponing blog I read. Heather and Joanie, former college roommates, started The Krazy Coupon Lady blog/website and co-authored the book “Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey!” in an effort to take the “couponing virgin” to “coupon savvy” status. For me, I literally went from reading this blog to buying a stack of papers in one week. Oh, and if you’ve watched TLC’s “Extreme Couponing”, then you’ve seen Joanie’s saving tactics in action!
Money Saving Mom The author of this blog is a mom of three who learned couponing while still living at home while helping her mom with her 9 siblings! What a gift for her mom to teach her. The amazing thing about Crystal is through couponing she was able to make a 100% down payment on her house. That’s right people, I typed 100%. Its pretty awesome that she is a firm believer in giving to charity too, which is important to me. Her blog is another of the first blogs I visited and has taught me so much!
Here are a few of my favorites!
Store Specific Blogs
I Heart Publix This blog highlights matchups for the grocery store Publix.
Wild for Wags This blog highlights matchups, freebies, and Register Rewards at Walgreens
Simply CVS This blog highlights matchups, free deals, and extra care bucks at CVS.
Are you a “Couponing Virgin”? If yes, you can start here:
The Grocery Game This site, for ten dollars a month, completely breaks down every sale and every coupon, and tell you exactly how much you’ll save in dollars & cents as well as in percentage, and also has a price comparison feature where you can find the cheapest price in your area for an item. The site does everything but hold your hand through the couponing process. I actually joined this site a few years ago to try to learn how to do it, but I don’t think I ever really “got it”. This site is very easy to use, so if you don’t have the time to dedicate to research, this may be a god place to start. They are currently offering a free 4 week trial membership!
